Something happened to me a little while ago on my morning run. I got caught in a bad downpour of rain on the way back. I love running in the rain if the weather is warm enough, but this time the strange thing that happened was that a young woman passed by and turned on her left turn signal a little distance in front of me. She turned around and sat at a stop sign until I got there. When I got to the stop sign, she rolled down her window and I could see that it was a female by herself. Here I am, a wet man who is running down the street, and she asked me if I wanted a ride. Under normal circumstances, I would not accept a ride from an unknown female but because she was nice enough to stop, I decided to take the ride. She moved the items out of the seat and I got in drenched from the rain. I thought that she would take me to her turn off but she took me all the way to my house. We sat and talked as we rode and I found out that she had seen me on my regular trail on a regular basis. When I got home, I thought about how kind it was for her to pick up a total stranger. It took her out of her way. After getting out of the car, I thought that there are some kind and unselfish people in the world. People who will to do something for someone when there is nothing in it for them. I don’t know the person and haven’t seen them again. I believe that if we do the right things with the right motives, God will bless us. Don’t forget to be good to strangers. The Bible states Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. It can say a lot about your character and the type of person that you are. Don’t forget that you do have to be careful picking up strange people or going somewhere with someone strange. With caution and wisdom in the course of day to day activities, look for ways to help others and be an unexpected blessing.
