Something new today I learned as an Indie author. Due to my successfull autograph signing, my local Barnes and Nobles wanted to carry my books on their shelves. I assumed they would be able to because Createspace has an expanded distribution option. Come to find out that distribution is only half accurate. Did you know, going through createspace or any P.O.D. site will not allow stores like Barnes and Noble or Target to carry your books? They will allow people to order them online, but the books are not returnable. If they ate not returnable, they will not stock them. Here;s the letter I got back from creatspace: Hello Joe, Thank you for contacting CreateSpace with your inquiries. Unfortunately, we are not offering a returnable option through Expanded Distribution at this time. That said, as you are considered the publisher, you may be able to arrange to take back any returns that they have. I would recommend talking with them further to find what options you may have. Finally, you may wish to consider LightningSource/Ingram (LSI). They are the organization we work through for the Bookstores and Online Retailers sales channel and they do have a returnable policy for print-on-demand books done directly through them. Joe, I apologize for any inconvenience this information may present but I hop that it does prove to be useful in halping you move forward. Best regards, Ito CreateSpace Member Services
