Something strange happened last night, right before the 7pm novena - TopicsExpress

Something strange happened last night, right before the 7pm novena mass at the Basilica. I huddled with the sea of faithful, elbow to elbow with them trying to get into the Pilgrim Center. It was tight as tight can be, so I tried mighty hard to prevail upon myself, to remain patient throughout what has become an annual ordeal. And then a thought came to mind. That small gate at the back of Santo Niños Pilgrim Center (I believe one of only two where people can enter) reminded me of a popular biblical passage: It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. I really felt like the rich man; heck, we were all rich men trying to get into the eye of a needle. But through it all, the realization was clear. Just focus on Niño, your reason for being there, throughout the challenge, and somehow, youll get through things... and into that gate. Of course heaven is infinitely harder to get into, and it doesnt mean that I or everyone there are promised entrance to eternity just because the metaphor is glaring. However, its nice to practice things, the exercise being a constant reminder for when we go about our lives outside our place of worship. But I digress. This isnt the strange thing. As I struggled to maintain my composure getting in, reflecting on the aforesaid realization, out of nowhere and to my shock, someone grabbed my right hand and held it tight. As in interlocked and firmly clasped. Like lovers would. Alarmed at the appalling intrusion of my private space, I instantly, in a split of a second, looked to my right to check who it was. And OMG, he was the most handsome man. Just so, so handsome. Mesticillo but not bland nor too striking or bidli. In his mid to late 20s, he was probably the most good-looking among the thousands upon thousands gathered there. My eyes were wide open in shock and awe. And Im sure it twinkled. He was the same. I smiled, amused at the comedy of things, tightened my grip and let go... he reciprocated, smiled (oh the sweetest smile), tightened his grip, and let go. And then he found the hand he intended to hold, his girlfriends. Certainly not the prettiest girl there. I kid you not. He mistook me for her because she was fair-skinned. But what was that?! What just happened? He saw I wasnt his girlfriend and he didnt let go right away. Still, he held tight, and tighter after I tightened my grip. And that sweet smile. What was that?! Haha Inside, when the mass started, I confessed to Almighty God.. and to my brothers and sisters.. that I have greatly sinned... Oh what a distraction! ;) Hihi #AkongDakongSala
