Something that I never cease to do is attach a song or piece of music to segments of stories I have in mind. Kinda living up to my ponysona name Elegy Fermata wherein its related to writing and music. I rarely use music to form ideas for stories - The Smiler being one such case since I thought up the story due to listening to the music of the rollercoaster. The story behind the rollercoaster provided some inspiration, but it was the music that... how shall I say it... spoke to me? Most of the time, however, I listen to music while thinking about any stories I have in mind and if I hear anything that fits with an idea I have, then I cement that idea with that piece of music and listen to it dozens and dozens of times over. Its what I did with the second chapter of In Fine the moment I wrote Its All Over Now Filly Green in a section of dialogue. It gives me a sort of template to work around. It gives an emotion to work around which is why, I suppose, Twilight had become bitter in conjunction with the bitterness of the song. Its not only that, though, because I felt it would run naturally if I let Twilights deepest feelings she held at bay be released to prepare for moments when - and its not only her in specific - she is violently torn apart emotionally. As well as that one track for The Smiler, I also have another two tracks I listen to every day that fits with the story. Its like, when I listen to a certain track, its my rime to think solely about the specific idea I have attached to it and nothing else. I have a piece of music attached to a chapter of In Fine I have named, ...In Maneopolis, We Die which is a continuation of the preceding chapter, In Maneopolis, We Live, and..., and Its a couple chapters I look forward to coming to. Mostly due to the idea I have in mind for what happens in those chapters, but also due to a name sliding itself onto the idea in my brain and onto a character that will more or less be the main focus in those two chapters. All I can say is that this character and the name he now has, puts a sly little smile on my face. Oh, Elegy, you really are so evil... Its just a shame that I have it in my mind that these two chapters will appear in the second part of the first book. I decided it may be best for me to split the first book into two because I feel its going to be ridiculously long when I eventually get to the end of it. Heres the track Ive attached to ...In Maneopolis, We Die: youtube/watch?v=8zZD_ItaEuU
