Something that really struck me at the beginning of the year was when Sodexo workers were having troubles unionizing--you bet the entire campus was full of support. As a first year, that made me feel really safe and really secure like we were all here to help one another out. I know that there were issues with one public safety officer, but Im just wondering where all the support went for the others. It makes me so sad the media has made everyone so sensitive to these issues that you no longer look around to consider the *people* that are being affected. The will to help one another out has vanished, and this growing hostility amongst the *students* has made me feel unsafe. Yes, progression in America needs to happen, but before we as a campus can do anything, we need to make sure we know how to progress within our own community. And I honestly dont think many of us feel comfortable enough to do so.
