Something to Think About: Do You Know Him? I can remember a particular incident when I was younger that taught me a valuable lesson. Instead of knowing the facts about something, I rode the bandwagon with everyone else, speaking things that I had no real knowledge about. This incident cause emotional pain to someone and hurt me because I was a part of hurting him. After my father set me straight, I began to think before I spoke, and more importantly, if I did not know the facts about something, I did not open my mouth until I did. Instead of listening to what everyone else was saying about this person, I got to know him and he was nothing like what was being said about him….valuable lesson! A lesson can be learned in the same way concerning God. If you don’t have a personal relationship with Him, how can you know what His will is? How can you know why His Word is the ultimate authority and guide on all things? How can you know why sin is no joke and something God hates, even though He loves His creation? How can you know that the gift of salvation is free, but it is something we have to accept and determine to keep by staying in the perfect will of God? How can you know when God is speaking to you, blessing you, warning you, calling you to Him, and so on, if you have no personal relationship with Him? Don’t assume about God, His will and His Word; get to know Him through a personal relationship with His Son Jesus Christ and then what you speak and know will be truth. {“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” -Romans 10:9-10, KJV}
