Something to stop and think about...why in the world were unshowered, animal-smelling, dung-trodden shepherds one of the first people God chose to announce his sons birth to? Did you ever wonder about that? My study Bible just pointed out that they were probably the ones who raised lambs for the Jews temple sacrifices. Think on that for a sec...Jesus is the Lamb that will be the final sacrifice. God chose to tell these guys whos mainstay is raising sheep, that the waited-for messiah is here--and they were excited, not upset. They told so many people and were so pumped that the people were astonished. God is always intentional about details--and you are a pretty amazing detail too. 😉
