Something wonderful happened in Dundee today. I had applied for permission to have the display area in the City Square but was refused because the Better together campaign bus was to be there . So I asked to have the display area across from it but was refused on the grounds that there might be trouble if we were in the vicinity of the Better together bus. At first I dug my heels in but after several discussions from various levels of management at the Council and the intervention of the Council Chief Executive. I decided that taking into consideration the attempted harassment from the better together camp when Jim Murphy was in the City Square . That it would be better in the interest of public order if we did not set up the stall in the near vicinity. However after some considerable persuasion from the inimitable Deb we decided that a presence was still required and so we arranged a limited display which was to consist of a meeting of the Dragon for independence team at the City square and led by our Piper Ian walk through the Red Tories camp and up Reform street to an event held by Radical independence at the Museum to give them our support. As we left the Square led by Ian, more and more people joined the procession and by the time we reached the Museum we had quite a gathering. After some speeches we again headed back to the City Square and this time our march grew and grew and by the time we reached the Square we must have had several hundred behind us . Ian pulled us up in front of the Red Tory encampment and we gave them renditions of Scotland the Brave , Loch Lomond to Flower of Scotland we then walked through their position and formed up back in the square where various speeches were given to an ever increasing and eager audience. It was heart warming to see such a spontaneous expression of national pride. I will never forget today. We are on the road to independence This is our journey
