Sometime ago, John Gulleys name was brought up. The following appeared in News Herald week 9-10-14: John Gulley of Gratz was a man ahead of his time. Some refer to him as a genius. He invented a perpetual motion electric motor which would power a car without fuel and built his first model from old washing machine parts. Gulley turned down a GM offer of $35 million because they wouldn’t guarantee to market his amazing magnetic engine. He also wanted automakers to manufacture his product in Kentucky and give Owen countains the manufacturing jobs. Gulley was constantly harassed and became the victim of repeated acts of vandalism. He died discouraged that his efforts to help society was not fully appreciated by the powerful companies of the auto industry. His neighbors described him as “a case” and said he could entertain them for hours with stories of his life.
