Sometimes I HATE meat eaters! Ja, ja.... I am always very tolerant towards those who have not yet changed over to a plant based diet, because it took me 60 years to get to that point. But this morning I was swearing loudly at a meat eater ...... Our Egyptian geese with their baby chicks are doing very well. But yesterday a Gymnogene (kaalwangvalk) was doing his slow fly-by thing over our home. Obviously looking for a juicy piece of flesh! We were very grateful when some crows eventually attacked him and drove him off. This morning we woke up to the sound of the Geese running and screaming past our bedroom window... they escaped with their babies through the fencing we put up for the dogs to stay out of their area. Andre jumped up and actually forgot to switch off the burglar alarm in his haste. Well, with the dogs going mad, the burglar alarm going off, and me dropping the phone when Atlas phoned all hell broke loose. We ran outside while Atlas arrived at our gate with sirens blazing. Well, we never saw who did what to our geese. It was obvious that they were attacked. With all the chaos and noise the culprit took off. But I am bloody sure that if it was the Gymnogene, he would not come back to this hellhole of noise and chaos anytime soon! The babes are all back now in their safe part of the garden.... mother and father patrolling the area with flapping wings, while the chicks are standing inside the feeding tray with bird seeds and greenery.... doing what any decent chick does after stress.... comfort eating!
