Sometimes, I find interesting things when I clean. Today, I feel like the universe is laughing at me. Shoved under the guest bed I found a large plastic Goodwill bag. The contents of this bag was a collection of more than a dozen unopened bottles of domestic and imported beer kept in perfect room-temperature darkened stasis. As if that wasnt puzzling enough by itself, the sheer joy of discovering such an assortment is ultimately crushed because I cant drink right now. Even as I type this, echoes of cant drink right now smash against the walls of my mind, shattering like glass and pressing shards of bitter irony into the wilting bud of my beer anticipation. I feel as though I will never again make such a discovery and must chalk it up to yet another sacrifice made out of love to my growing progeny. One day, when he is grown and drinking a beer of his own, I will tell him of this and we will laugh and cry together, sharing in a deeper appreciation of this crazy ride called life.
