Sometimes I forget how much of an impression the words we use or the stories we share are. After a chaotic day at work and a statewide disaster exercise meeting after work, I came to my favorite Japanese restaurant to have a quiet dinner alone. The waitress seated me and said Youre the mountain climber, right? I said Yes. She said I just wanted to say thank you for telling me about your mountain climbing and showing me your GPS when you bought it. I just finished climbing in Oahu two weeks ago because of you.... I bought my GPS in April and brought it to the restaurant then. She began planning her climbing adventure in May... Six months ago. She was so excited to tell me her story. Another moment when a stranger has brought tears to my eyes.
