Sometimes I hear some legislators and their supporters attack - TopicsExpress

Sometimes I hear some legislators and their supporters attack conservatives using Voltaires generic observation that we should not let perfection be the enemy good. Of course, that opinion cannot be weighed in a vacuum. For example, that might make sense if you are making pizza, putting up tape lines, fishing, performing routine ministerial duties or many other things of minor signifiance where accuracy is not a necessary element.. However, there are many areas where that mentality is an excuse for unacceptable conduct and consequences. Things like surgery, tieing knots for mountain climbers, landing planes, and writing legislation (particularly that involve constitutional rights) call for those undertaking such actions to strive for perection and be unwilling to accept merely good or its derivavtive close enough for government work. When you hear a legislator talk about incrementalism or passing merely good laws rather than pursuit of the best public policies, you really need to ask yourself if that person should be a public policy maker or influencing them.
