Sometimes I hurt- Sometimes I cry- Sometimes I cant get it right - TopicsExpress

Sometimes I hurt- Sometimes I cry- Sometimes I cant get it right no matter how hard I seem to try- Sometimes I fall down and stumble over my own disguise- I try to look strong as the hold world looks on- but sometimes alone I cry. The words you just read are a portion of the lyrics of a Gospel song recently made popular by the powerful voice of Jason Crabb. I am not sure that I have ever heard any other song that deals with the reality of personal inner struggles more directly than this one. In fact, I would say the majority of Christian music has been written as though every phase of our Christian experience is positive. Still other songs tell of trials, valleys, and hardships albeit with the hope of eternal bliss at the conclusion of such difficulties. Few artists have dared to venture into the treacherous theological mine-field of secret circumstances with the same pure honesty as Crabb. Yet, I wonder: how many people actually force a smile in hopes that a cheerful countenance will somehow divert attention away from their tears? On a typical Sunday morning, thousands of us will smooth our garments and our expressions as we walk into our respective local churches. We will greet our church family with a smile. When we are asked how we are doing, we will say: Fine! Fine - even when we know the mortgage is past due. We will say Fine! even when we are secretly hoping that the latest word from the doctor was only some technological mistake, when our children are struggling in school, when our marriage is under fire, when our car wont start, when the toilet wont flush, when the pantry is bare, when the bank account is depleted, when our schedule is hurried, when our family doesnt understand, when our friends dont care- still we will say I am fine! Yet I am sure- no, I am VERY sure- that many of us (if we are honest) would have to admit that in our most private moments we cry out to God and ask why! How do I know? Because, sometimes when I am alone, I cry! Sometimes when no one is watching I cry! And sometimes when no is watching you cry! And sometimes when no one is watching, Jesus comes to each of us to dry our tears and remind us that everything will be okay!!
