Sometimes I like before and after pictures...ahem...except when the before is soooo bad due to neglect...***hangs head in shame***. I decided to tackle a smallish project that was the biggest eyesore on our home, (our front entry), Supermans least favorite kind of project to work on {doors}, something the boys and I could do with almost zero money spent, and a money/heat saver {the threshold was shot and cold air poured in}. Its ridiculous that I had neglected it this long. You know how you just get used to seeing something, until you dont notice it anymore? Yeah... So, we took off the the broken metal scroll work on the storm door, completely cut off the torn screen (I never use that screen anyway), fixed the top glass so it will stay up (slider tabs were broken, now its permanently screwed in place), scrubbed doors, and siding, painted storm door and finally painted the front door a lovely brick red {which Ive wanted to do since we built on and got the buttercream yellow siding }. Sanded and painted our house number sign to match the door, tore out the rotten threshold (that took a few hours with a cutting piece on the dremel). And the piece de le resistance? Superboy spent several hours custom cutting just the right fitting boards for a beautiful snug threshold. I liquid nailed, caulked and painted and Superman put the last threshold piece on. Super di duper! Saved my dear handsome a headache, looks great, and fixed an energy problem. Woohoo and hot diggity dog! Now, time for a bit of a late bible study, then back to finishing up some other projects!
