Sometimes I really like it when a forecast doesnt come together. - TopicsExpress

Sometimes I really like it when a forecast doesnt come together. This is one of those times... Rain is tapering off for Portland and the Willamette Valley. Showers not heavy rain will fall today in The Coast Range and Cascades. The snow level in the mountains is back down around 5,000 feet. Rain totals have been impressive but not as high as models originally predicted. PDX picked up 1.07 in the last 24 hours. That isnt even a 24 hour record for the date. Because the storm didnt pack a big a punch as originally forecast a major flood event wont happen. Just 18 hours ago hydrologists were predicting a major flood even on The Clackamas River. Today only minor flooding is expected. Some of the flashier rivers near the coast have already reached there crest. The Clackamas is forecasted to peak about midnight. Looking ahead Im expecting a pretty quiet week. Showers, sun breaks and cooler temperatures. All in all good travel conditions for Trains, Planes and Automobiles. (also one of my favorite Christmas movies.)
