Sometimes I see glimpses of the young woman Isabella might have been without the disabilities. She is so strong willed and intense, so ready for everything that life has to offer... as long as it is on her terms! I imagine that she would have been fearless and competitive in sports, debate, or even acting. Isabella has the classic Type A personality (she even takes pleasure in things like organizing my purse or cleaning out my car). I bet she would have been a 4.0 student with a meticulously clean bedroom. Everything in her life would have labels and color coding so that we didnt mess it up! Now that she is 12, maybe she would be experiencing her first crush. She would be excited about her future, planning where she would go to college, who she might marry, defining her future step by step over the next few years. (This girl likes to think ahead, so I am POSITIVE she would have it all planned!) I am sure that she also would have talked us into living in a giant country house, and our daily lives would be dedicated to pets! I bet there would be chickens, horses, goats, and even a cow! The parrots and reptiles might take over, but she would take the chaos and shape it into the beautiful world that she is so gifted in creating. I know that her life is full of things that bring her joy, and her life is also filled with purpose just as it is. I am thankful for the incredible child she is and I truly couldnt ask for more in a daughter... but sometimes I catch that glimpse of who she might have been and it still stings a little.
