Sometimes I want to ask .. what do people think a rescue is? I see shelter dogs posted with pleas that the rescue save them. I understand this because I want them saved as well. We are a charity.. like all charities, we survive on donations. When a one year old dog is adopted out for $350, he has had anywhere from $300 to $3000 already invested in him in vet bills. Even a perfectly healthy 4 month old pup usually has had about $200 in vet bills and we will still pay for his /her spay or neuter when he is old enough. Yet weve been accused of being in it for the money. LOL what money? If we are lucky enough to make $50 from the adoption of a dog, it goes to pay the bill of a dog with canine influenza, an infected ear, a hurt paw. We walk a financial tightrope on a daily basis. Will we make enough in adoption fees this week to pay next weeks vet bills? Who knows - certainly we dont.
