Sometimes I wish I didnt have to know or think about certain things. I wish that I could walk into a grocery store (likely a much smaller grocery store) and know that everything in it was healthy food, instead of most of being processed garbage that I need to avoid. I wish the focus in the blogging community could be just about educating people and sharing information, instead of jumping through hoops trying to utilize this, that or the other social media; ad optimization; discussions of whether its better to sell thousands of really cheap e-books or dozens or hundreds of expensive online courses; VAT taxes, tax deductions, tax withholding - it never ends. I cant see an email or sponsored post in my newsfeed without evaluating the angle or pitch that the business/blogger is shooting for. It seems like a rite of passage that once one reaches a particular size, its all about the sales pitch, and there are so many boxed pitches that the sheer volume of them makes me want to hurl, but they work, otherwise people wouldnt keep using them. Its offensive to me that there are millions of readers out there who are gullible enough to believe the claims like someone with a multi-million dollar abode and massive staff saying that they are just like the reader. Its offensive to me that as writers we are forced to write shock headlines or obscure teasers to get significant social media exposure. People often say they dont like them - but they still get more reach. Stepping off my soapbox now, but seriously thinking that Im in the wrong business.
