Sometimes I wonder if some of us Hindus have turned Hinduism into a narrow intolerant religion. Since Shankracharyas inclusion of various Buddhist sects into Hinduism there have been no other recognitions. Let me use an example. Ahmadiyya is an Islamic sect which was born in India , where the leader claimed to be the prophet predicted in different world texts. This sect of Islam was reformist in every sense. Its two major diff from Sunni Islam a) It believed Muhammad to be the greatest prophet and interpreted seal on prophets as symbol and not last. I do think this is the right interpretation of Quran b) It didnt confirm to Jehad for propogating Islam, infact the concept of Kafir is almost absent. So there was no need to convert or force someone to believe in Islam. The only goal was to spread the teachings of Islam. In this sense it seems to me that this is also an offshoot of Hinduism that believes in Allah. Similarly there is a christian sect in Kerala with Hindu cultural beliefs. As Hindus we need to embrace these sects and hence prove that when we say Hindutva is not religious it actually does mean that.
