Sometimes, IT’S GOOD TO PLAY :) [Reposted]. I celebrated thanksgiving this past Thursday by getting together with a group of folks from the US who enjoy Tijuana (Mexico) – a couple of them actually living there, & where I’ve been visiting for the past 3 weeks. The group was organized by FB friend, Lin (white beard in photo) who suggested that those of us to didn’t have family could come together for the holiday as a group in TJ. We started out at Mamut (Mammoth) which is a microbrewery in the heart of downtown Tijuana for some VERY good beer. Mamut has a delightful, shaded outdoor patio that looks down from its second floor perch onto the street below & bustling with TJ life. The arrow in the photo points to the unmarked – almost clandestine – entrance one uses to get up to the patio (which you can see just above, to the left of the church bell tower). After beers, we then piled into local public transit for a ride over to an exotic, colorful and very Mexican restaurant for some great local food. At the end of the meal Lin pulled out a can of cranberry sauce and a homemade pumpkin pie (w/ whipped cream topping) as the perfect finish! Mexican restaurants (unlike US restaurants) are real easygoing about patrons bringing in their own food items (or even drinks) to add to the meal. All and all, it was a lovely gathering at interesting TJ venues with interesting folks and some new acquaintances for me. A belated happy thanksgiving to you all!
