Sometimes Life Is Just Wild...Like When Finding a Needle in a Haystack! So, took a day off today to finally just relax and drove to Nyack for a great lunch and some nice views of the Hudson with my wife. Beautiful day. So, we love bookstores, and found one packed to the rafters, literally. Place is insane. Thousands of books, many in piles, piles, and more piles. Out of all these books, I dig into a random pile and on my first pick -- 1st pick I tell ya!!! -- find a book entitled New York 400: A Visual History of Americas Greatest City...with Images from the Museum of the City of New York, published in 2009. Flipping through the pages, flipping...et voila. Three of my photos from my 12 years of work with the NYPD from the Museums permanent collection. One of the photos of New Years Eve in Times Square NYC opens Chapter XVI on the 1990s in a very classy display. Never even knew they put this book out. Years ago I gifted the photos to the museum when Bob Shamis was the curator. What a surprise to be in such a historical book by a major museum. Wonder if I can get a free copy of the book. Sure hope so! Gifting them -- will have to check the contract/release -- I am sure, allowed for publication rights by the institution itself, but regardless this born and bred New Yorker is honored to once again be a part of New York City history. Not to mention my boy, aka Mr. Man, has another collectors item of dads hard work on the streets!
