Sometimes breastfeeding is more than uncomfortable, it can be down - TopicsExpress

Sometimes breastfeeding is more than uncomfortable, it can be down right painful. Pain doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong but it is an indicator that something isn’t quite right. Did you or are you now experiencing pain with breastfeeding? What kind of pain and how long did or does it last? Do you know the cause of the pain? Katy Linda, IBCLC from The Breastfeeding Den is here to help you trouble shoot any breastfeeding problems you may be encountering right now. Katy, can you tell us what would be indicators that a mom may need more support in troubleshooting the discomfort and pain she’s experiencing? When should she seek out in-person professional lactation support? Some discomfort can be addressed with simple solutions. For example, I have found a lot of relief using a rolled up muslin blanket or a soft burp cloth under my breast for more support to relieve tugging on the nipple with an impatient nursling. Check out Bebe au Laits muslin collection for some soft comfort.
