Sometimes breastfeeding is more than uncomfortable, it can be down right painful. Pain doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong but it is an indicator that something isn’t quite right. When should she seek out in-person professional lactation support? Some discomfort can be addressed with simple solutions. For example, I have found a lot of relief using a rolled up muslin blanket or a soft burp cloth under my breast for more support to relieve tugging on the nipple with an impatient nursling.
