Sometimes caring for wildlife is nothing but heartache. This - TopicsExpress

Sometimes caring for wildlife is nothing but heartache. This precious little princess was brought into us just after 10:30am today. She had been found lying on the highway near her dead mother a couple of hundred kilometres south of here. As can be seen in the photographs she not only has some facial bruising/injuries but also the crows/hawks had been eating her alive. A tourist mentioned today that he arrived on the Greyhound bus this morning and that at about 3am the bus had hit a kangaroo a couple of hundred kilometres down the road. The timing all fits for this to have been when Mum was killed. We cant feel any breaks to her bones but we do believe she may have internal injuries. She was quite cold when she arrived but we have been able to warm her body. We have her on pain relief and have treated her open wounds and she is now strapped to my chest under my shirt. Unfortunately her breathing is very laboured and we dont think she will survive - but we will still do everything we can to save her. We dont have a name for her as yet. Its going to be a long night.
