Sometimes in life things don’t happen the way we would want them - TopicsExpress

Sometimes in life things don’t happen the way we would want them to. After my parents divorced, my family moved back to Richmond Heights when I was in elementary school. After going through one of the most traumatic times in my life, I remember sitting on the porch with my mother and the lady from next door walking over. Her and my mother were talking and I had no idea who she was. She remembered when I was born but we moved away. As time went on, my relationship grew with her because she had no daughters only boys. She took me to get my nails done for the first time and when my mother was upset at me I would run to her house for her to protect me. There were plenty of days where I would not go home and my mom already knew I was at her house lying in bed with her painting nails or just watching Judge Judy. Her sons became my big brothers, and her family became my own. She was no longer considered my neighbor, she was my other Mother. When I got pregnant with Amani, she was one of the first people to know and as I was expecting her to be upset, she never was, she embraced me and told me “ Mom will be here for you and my new grandbaby”. From Day 1 this lady stepped in and took over the roll as being my daughters Grandmother and she jumped in line with her other grandchildren. You cannot tell my daughter that she is not her biological grandmother and that those are not her cousins. She has not missed NOT ONE of Amani’s birthdays, Christmas, etc.. When I call she is there. I cannot express the gratitude and love I have for Vicki Ballou and her family. I am truly blessed to have an angel like you in my life and Amani is beyond elated to call you her Grandmother. For someone to be of the same blood, you have been so good to me and Amani. Your door is always open, your heart has always remained pure, and your love is unconditional. I will forever be your FIRST daughter and love you to eternity for all you do. I have something very special planned for you and Ray. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH VICKI and Ray. Thank you for taking me in during the hardest time of my life and to the rest of the Ballou’s Chris, Mike, and Adam thank you for always being there as my other 3 protective brothers!!! I love you guys too and I want the world to know the impact you all have had on not only my life, but the life of my daughter. She is so lucky!!!
