Sometimes, it all comes down to pizza, Randall. At 9:30 every night, our whole field team — more than a hundred people spread across Virginia — hops on the phone to recap the day. How many doors were knocked? How many voters received phone calls? And what was a highlight from the day? Last night, one organizers highlight was pretty simple: someone sent pizza to his office. That might not seem like a big deal to you or me, but to that organizer and his volunteers, a pizza was the boost that helped them work a little harder and a little longer. Will you chip in $10 or more right now, so we can send our volunteers and organizers a couple pizzas tonight? Since today is the start of our final Get Out the Vote push and our organizers and volunteers are working harder than ever, we want to do something nice for them. While I dont miss operating on two or three hours of sleep a night, a pot of coffee, and sometimes pure adrenaline, I think fondly about my first Get Out the Vote push five years ago. The sense of camaraderie and accomplishment that comes from doing what seemed impossible just a few months earlier was like nothing Id felt before. Between today and Tuesday (just four days!), our 100 organizers and tens of thousands of volunteers will knock on more doors than we did in any previous month.
