Sometimes it is hard to distinguish between love and lust. Lust is very temporary. Only a state of mind and emotion, just like anger and sadness. Even, with the most beautiful women, lust is only for a little while. Love is a special state of the heart. Sort of like that burst of emotion or lust some times one gets for a short while but the difference is love is consistent in the heart and the heart is constantly attached to the beloved. In most ideal relationships it is a mixture of love and lust. Either because no one is so perfect or free from problems in order to have 100% pure love or 100% lust. Probably an example of pure lust would be when one fulfills his lust but there is no feelings or attachment towards that person what so ever. The saddest relationship is where there is not enough love nor lust between the couples. The purest and the greatest form of love is the true love of Allah because he is so perfect and his favours are so great that one will go crazy with love if they realise and Allah never lets down one who loves him, thus it just keeps growing and growing. Like the poet said... شربت الحب كاسا بعد كاس فما نفد الشراب وما رويت (I have drank the love goblets after goblets but the drink does not finish and nor do I get quenched)
