Sometimes it really does amaze me how many bands I hear on here that just want to sound like another band. Its like only 5 vocal styles exist and when you run out of guitar riffs you just djent scratch them. I never thought metal would take the direction of pop and start crossing over vocalists for every second song they do but here comes Abrasive of Somethingcore with special guest dog cougher Chad Chaddington vocalist from Heightened by Extinct Absorption. For real? You wanna plug each others shit maybe do a split release? Guest vocalists who use the exact same vocal style as your vocalist arent really guesting to show off they do something different that your band. Its all getting a little I have to say it All In The Family there I said it. Hopefully in 2015 Ill see more bands that want to stand out and really push a new direction. But in reality probably more guest vocals, non existent bass, slickly produced by the numbers build ups and breakdowns. Bitter? Cynical? damn straight I am. One set of haircuts with tattoos kind of blends into the next. Ive heard some great bands submit here since I started but its been real eye opening the amount of open plagiarism and copycatting. Some bands literally write weve been told we sound like which actually means we tell people we sound like Anyway. Had to get that off my chest. Impress us people. Or better yet surprise and impress yourselves! ;) - Ouroboris
