Sometimes it surprises me to realize that I am as old as I am. Since I have many friends who are older than me, I cant take on airs about it, however. The definition of old is a moving target; once upon a time, I thought anyone who was 20 years younger than I am now was old; and now old is currently some 30 years older than me. If it keeps moving this way, perhaps I will never catch it; but then I think of my grandmother who did live to be older than anyone she knew. Sometimes, especially towards the end, she felt very, very old; but other times she didnt feel old at all. Sometimes, in those last five years after her first century, she just wondered how she happened to be the last one standing.
