Sometimes, life throws us a curve ball. Ours came in the form of the C-cancer word, with Johnny being diagnosed with metastatic poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma with focal keratinization. This tumor appears to be located at the base of his right tonsil and is also in the lymph node on the right side of his neck. We meet with the oncologist this past Friday and will have several other appointments this week as well as next. They are hoping to do surgery to remove his tonsils and the node(s) possibly the week after Christmas. It certainly has been an unexpected life event, yet we know that God always has a plan greater than ours and that he will be with us every step of the way. Johnny and I both feel that were blessed to have found this out sooner vs. later and that the treatment team weve chosen at Hollings Cancer Center in Charleston is the right choice. Hopefully, surgery will take care of things and no radiation will be needed but of course, this will hinge on the findings post op. We ask that you continue to keep us, our children, and our families in your prayers as we begin this journey together.
