Sometimes looking at the rising sense of otherisation, - TopicsExpress

Sometimes looking at the rising sense of otherisation, discrimination and bigotry against Muslims, make me feel I am a Muslim all the time, whereas I am as non-religious a person can be. It makes me shudder with anger. The beard, the hijab, the burqa, certain locations like Batla House have become so insidiously incorporated in the, which I now believe is majority right wing population in India associated with terror, that its pushing Muslims more and more to the edge. The incident that happened yesterday has shook me up in more ways than one. I am a Muslim, but people find it hard to identify me as one because I do not dress like one or I drink/smoke etc etc. But those three girls in JNU were insinuated to be associated with terror activities only because they were wearing full length clothes and a hijab. I have really thought about this step and I would like to welcome feedback from my friends, artists, activists, journalists and concerned individuals here. I have been thinking about this concept since last night and I believe it can make an intervention. I would like to have a Hijab Day in Delhi as a sign of solidarity with Muslims, also keeping in mind what is happening in Trilokpuri. I checked online right now and discovered that there is a World Hijab Day but I do not know if they had any event/impact in India. Do let me know what you all think
