Sometimes school officials step beyond their bounds--such as those who try to require homeschool parents to fill out forms asking for information that isnt required by state law. Usually this is done because they are not familiar with the law themselves and mistakenly believe that they can make whatever requirements they choose of homeschoolers. A homeschool parents best defense is familiarity with the law. In Florida, school districts may *ask* for more than the law requires, but they may not *demand* more. Homeschool parents only have to comply with state law. A good source of information is the Florida Dept of Educations Office of Choice--the office that oversees home education (and other alternatives to public school education).
