Sometimes the stupidest things happen in the countryside. Theyre - TopicsExpress

Sometimes the stupidest things happen in the countryside. Theyre destined to extinct is a quote I heard from an unnamed source. There are some tax forms that need to be distributed from the local office. They get put at my doorstep because this year I am tonarigumicho. It takes me a few days to get around to deliver them, but each envelope has a complete name and address taped onto it. All it needs is a stamp. A single stamp, and any one of the many hima (people with nothing to do) workers at the local office can drop it at the nearby post office. It causes my wife to.. become upset... at Mona and I (mostly me) because I didnt have time to distribute them the day they landed on the doorstep or yesterday (Mona refused to go outside), and now wife is worried that people will complain to *her* because either they are afraid to speak to a foreigner, or they know that I wont take shit (that is another story, but I tell her Just tell them to complain to me. I dont mind. I invite it.) A single stamp. Thats it, and the post office, the most efficient option here for delivering mail, will distribute these possibly within the day. Its to save money She says. Well, what about just getting rid of some of the useless office staff? I say. One less person making copies or smoking in outside can pay for enough stamps to send these letters to every house in the village for several years. I think I am going to write an invoice to the local office for my services as post-man. I am not sure how much to charge. Simply charging for the small amount of postage it would have cost is too small, considering I do not get the other benefits of post office workers.
