Sometimes there are two paths in front of us. One is illuminated, with signs that tell us where to turn. We have company along the way, a sense that we’re on the “right track.” Just nearby lies a second path, dimly-lit and partially obscured. It boasts fewer landmarks, and draws infrequent visitors. This path is precarious, filled with sharp-edged rocks and the sounds of self-doubt that call to us like crows. Expectations circle hungrily around us, pecking at the polished gems of original thought that guided us here. Yet if we travel this longer road faithfully, we can encounter a deep, crystalline ritual and rhythm. We can sense the threads of spontaneous and creative expression that extend like filaments before us and guide our blind vision forward. This is the path of Interoception: when we let the work inform US rather than the other way around. What if we all jumped off the well-lit path together: what would our world look like?
