Sometimes we are very unprepared for those moments in nature when events happen that are so shocking and mesmerizing that we just witness w/o even knowing or understanding until its over, So today during a full on all snow day, I was driving in a busy but fairly wooded back side street that the event took place. The Merlin/falcon (small but efficient and brown), moved like an arial acrobat , took out a darker (much larger) pigeon in front of my face. The predatory bird zeroed in on the prey. It was lower than the flock... anyone who lives among pigeon flocks understand.... It happened thru my windshield and the Predator cornered the prey in a very small pine tree before the pigeon chose to exit the tiny but green tree. It was a bad choice, but was it; its only choice? The Predator had its prey on the snow white snow in front of the whole hardware store and I got to witness this. Never got to see the end of the natural part of it bc of my job, but it would have been cool to see how this little bird handled that pigeon.. I dont have a pricey camera nor an agenda so if this is inappropriate bc I dont have a pic of it then so be it. Life cant always be captured. But words can recall them. That is why books are written.
