Sometimes when we do something nice for someone, we don’t know - TopicsExpress

Sometimes when we do something nice for someone, we don’t know how far that kindness will reach. Here is an example of how a basket of cookies that were meant for one person, warmed the hearts of an entire family! We recently received this note. Hi, Im Laura Porter, my husband Kenneth Porter is an Omaha officer. My husband was in the precinct parking lot before his shift started when a woman came up to him asking for help because she was involved in a hit and run accident. The person who hit her fled the scene. My husband helped her even though he wasnt on duty yet. It would be nice to remind the public that officers are always willing to help even if theyre not on duty. Today, Kenny came home today with a basket of cookies and an appreciation note. With all the bad publicity surrounding police these days, I wanted to share this positive story. Although her thank you note was anonymous, my husband knew who it was because the note was so specific. He tried to call and thank her but could not get a hold of her. I wish I could tell her that it meant more than a mere basket of cookies to us. Our 3½ year old daughter is learning that her daddy is a hero to more than just her. And as his wife, it helps restore my faith in our community. Its so hard to send him out to do such a dangerous unappreciated job. So when someone does something so thoughtful for him, I am reminded how much he really does and how much this community needs him, and yes he did share his cookies with us!
