Sometimes words are just not enough.. Photography has allowed me to express myself in a way I never thought Id be able without getting my words mixed up or getting angry at myself. During two weeks back in March of this year I was in Sumatra and for two days I went to a place where staff at Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Programme (SOCP) piece together and rebuild injured Sumatran Orangutans, rescued from lives you cant even imagine at the hands of humans, used as pets and toys, beaten, shot at and hurt so bad some will forever be scared when they see humans. I cant put into words how I felt when I spent those 2 days with these peaceful animals. I was on my own most of the time watching those orangutans and at times I cried my eyes out at what I saw and as I watched them. Some were scared of me at first and went back into hiding, but in the end they came out and showed themselves to me as I sat and waited and presented no threat to them. Id like to think they saw the good in me and knew I was there to capture their beauty and story so I could go back home and tell of their pain and the amazing work thats being done to help them. This slideshow took me weeks to put together, and its my way of showing their stories and pain through images and just how vile humans can be to animals. Its also my way of thanking the staff at this place that care and try and learn those orangutans to trust again something thats very hard to do. Watch in full high definition many thanks youtu.be/z-s5u8ohhFM
