Fourth Inning Rally sends Athletic Department Staff past Mens Lacrosse in 14-13 stickball spring break showdown MORRISVILLE, N.Y. - The Mustang athletic department rallied from a seven run deficit in the bottom of the fourth inning to top mens lacrosse 14-13 in a friendly game of stickball Thursday. After two single base hits landed runners on first and second, Mustang SID Thurston stepped up to the plate and nailed a three run homer, followed by a grand slam by Mustang AD Carroll to bring the staff within two runs of the opposing team. In a matter of minutes, the staff had the bats rolling, posting the biggest comeback yet as three more runners crossed the plate for the one run advantage. Mustang WBB Coach K pitched the win for the staff, striking out two in the top of the fifth inning while MBB Coach Smith got the final batter out as he headed down the line to first. Mustang staff had some big hits from its lineup on the day, and MLX had some terrific fielding in the effort. Both will return to the field for a rematch at a later date yet to be announced.
