Sometimes you wonder about how the world will turn out. Are we - TopicsExpress

Sometimes you wonder about how the world will turn out. Are we all really trying our best to make it a better and better place everyday? Then you are judging a coloring contest and a simple thing an 8 year old buy does gives you hope, because it is just so beautiful on so many levels. Even if I explain it...I wont do him justice but here goes... A story my mother used to tell with pride (which has been mentioned before-no doubt) Back in 1976 when I was 5, my grandfather -a good man, had asked me if there were any, colored, children in my class when I started school. I being 5 and having never been taught by my parents that there was some sort of separation between skin colors for people & learning colors at school answered, No, just black and white. What a stupid question, there were no purple and green people. A family from here has added two more children to their family from Haiti, which is just a wonderful thing anyway; but today when I uncovered names from the pictures to award prizes I found the picture with a Haitian colored face was actually drawn by their caucasian son. Which to me, just says so much about broadening views, horizons, acceptance and what happens when you LOVE. With all the terrible trials happening in our country revolving around race, I just know with kids like this 8 year old in in the world to lead us there is always hope.
