Somewhere I saw a post regarding the many federales on the road. Today at Office Depot there were two trucks and four armed federales. I asked them why there is such a large presence of federales in Rosarito. He said that they are here to bring order to the city. He said that the municipales have a different job. I told him that the municipales are the problem, not a solution, as they are thieves who hold up the people they stop, generally for no reason. He stated that they do have reports on this and that this issue is on their list of things to be monitored. If stopped by a local police and they ask for money, the person is to refuse, ask to be taken to the court house, take down their truck number and make a written report which includes identification of the policemen from a book of police employees. The number to call if there is an issue is 088 01-800 440 3690. That is a direct number to the federal police. Everyone says of course refuse and yet we keep handing them money and even going to ATMs to get more when they say what you have is not enough. I know three people off hand I can name who have been forced to withdraw money from an ATM to pay them off.
