Somewhere in this pile is a little boy...a human one without spots! Just puttering in the boys room after a long but really amazing day at work. Met up with a friend from my old school board who said I love your stories and family posts. Its nice to know that the stories are enjoyed! I appreciate the advice, feedback and connections the stories help me make. In this particular case, my friend and I talked about Saturday. It was busy and we made a brave attempt to get our youngest to both hockey and football... ( totally Michaels choice to do both and we dont have the collective parenting energy to force the kids to do things they dont love!!) As we were leaving the house I had that knot in my stomach that we were trying to do too much. Should have listened! We arrived at football a few minutes late and I am sure my hurry ups added stress to my 7 year old which was maxed out when all the other players knew what to do and I didnt so he did what many of us feel like doing when we are stressed.. He laid face first on the ground and cried. Bless the football coaches who tried to get him up and then called a water break !!! That was our exit. In the van we chatted about okay what was that about...and do you really want to play and then we headed to hockey. The socks hurt his toes, the skates were tight and the practice was mostly him either sitting on the ice or hanging off the boards. I do remember thinking why cant this be easier. After practice we headed home and chilled and Danny and I talked about our way over scheduled weekend. We realized that we could only ask a 7 year old to do one thing at a time. We will pick either football or hockey on days they overlap and be in touch with the coaches of both. Football is a short season so we will make it work...and by getting there early with his dad, Michael really enjoyed football Wednesday! Kids do have a lot of stress in their lives!! Glad they can tell us what is bugging the and we can help sort it out! Tonights dilemma is the school reorganization. Lots of worry and some tears. As a parent I really need to find the words to make it better for them! So we talked about moving from Marathon to Thunder Bay and how they are good at finding the happy parts of changes. Still hard when they fall asleep in tears...but its a great school and they care deeply so we will keep trying to help them through! In the end its a good skill to know how to deal with the unexpected! And finally... The spots. Probably one of the best and worst decisions I have made is to keep two puppies. Worst because seriously it is a tonne of work! They need separate experiences, training and time. They are full of adventure, energy and play. I am sometimes exhausted. They NEVER are...so do I regret it.... Well on weekends when I could sleep in and they yowl at 7am I do think a quiet morning would be nice...but I arrive to happy little tails and dry crates ( good babies!!) and I think actually it is the best decision beer because I am smitten!!! These puppies have taught is to be more of a team and everyone does something to take care of them! Its not easy but it is amazing!!! Good night everyone!!! (And thank God for the grandparents who are always on reinforcement...Nonna for her open door always and nana and grandpa for the many activities they attend for and with the kids!!!
