Son: Papa, is there some yardstick for judging a regions economic development. Father : I am a layman son. But the other people say if there is economic development then something called Gross Domestic Product increases. For me son, if most people have better to eat, better shelter over their heads, better health, feel a sense of security, less drop-out from schools, then these are signs of economic development. Son : Papa, are not people happier in an economically developed country rather than being angrier? Father: May be son. Where the index of happiness is higher and the index of poverty is lower, that region seems to be developing. Son: Oh, yes Papa, when there is more economic development, more people go for picnic. Father: Ah Son, you have terrific perception.
