Song For The Day - January 19, 2015 If youre a mature music lover like me and even if youre not, its likely that youve heard someone, or done so yourself, complain about the fact theres just not any good music being made these days. Well, I call a big ole BS on that line of thought and I humbly offer todays song as proof that high quality, high energy music is still being made. This song is so new its not even been released yet. This is the promotional video for the new album. The problem is that there are so many different avenues for new music to show up from these days that its hard to know where to look at times. Its not like were living in the age of radio. That medium is a dead horse and has been for years now. Thanks go to the suits at Clear Channel and other drones like them. The gentleman whos name graces this band is an awesome human being and an awesome musician. I first became aware of him in 2002 when I bought an album (2 CDs actually) by a band called Spocks Beard. The albums name? SNOW. As a lover of what is called Prog, or progressive Rock, this SNOW album was an amazing piece of work. I played it non-stop for weeks. Then, it became news that Neal was leaving the band to strike out on his own. Rats, I got here just as the party was wrapping up. So, I went backwards and bought everything the band had put out since the first one in 1995. They were all excellent albums, chock full of progressive Rock n Roll music. Since 2002 when Neal left Spocks Beard he has been tremendously prolific, putting out album after album of high quality music. Ive got almost all of them and its impossible to sit still when his music is playing. I was fortunate enough to meet him in 2003 at a small church in Hastings Michigan where he was putting on a one man concert with a guitar and a loop machine. I talked with him for a bit and he is a special person who writes special music. His lyrics are thoughtful, the music is complex and tight to the point of otherworldliness.......His music is full of spirituality without being preachy. Its positive vibe will make you feel better than you did before you started listening. Having heard this new tune for this new album coming out soon I am excited about hearing the rest of it. Ill have my copy soon. Its Monday today for most of us and I dare say that we could all use a pick-me-up on a Monday. My suggestion is to turn this one up as loud as you can get away with, open the video to full screen and see if you dont feel better in less than 7 minutes. Rock on Neal. youtu.be/6JkEf9qsAYE
