Song For The Day - January 23, 2015 This morning Im planning ahead with todays Song For The Day. Im going to put up my first image from Germany this evening so I thought it would make perfect sense to share this great tune from a rockin German band at the same time. Lake was a well known band throughout the world from 1975 to 1986. Their musicianship and tight harmonies made for some good listening over the years. The tune Im sharing today was the first cut Id ever heard from them, via late night radio. I was out in the record stores the next day picking this one up. I dont really have a story tonight, but I would like to rant on for about 30 seconds on the state of music in this country. It sucks. We do not like to let music created outside of our borders into our country. I suspect its a money thing. I can tell you though that there are a TON of great bands out there who dont call the U.S. home. Dozens of European bands do well everywhere but here....and for that matter dozens of U.S. bands do better in Germany than they do in their home country thanks to a lack of support here. Even Canadian bands are largely shunned in this country, but do well elsewhere. I could easily rattle off, (but I wont) 2 dozen Canadian bands that can not get a break in the U.S. Its simply nuts, but thankfully with the net, music blogs and websites there are ways to get around the suits who try and control the music industry. If you visit here regularly youll probably hear a bunch of bands over time that youll never hear on the radio. Tomorrows Song For The Day is going to be from one of the greatest Canadian bands that nobodys ever heard of.....and thats just the tip of the ole iceberg. Time to hit the play button and break out the air drums. Stay tuned.
