Song For The Day - January 24, 2015 Todays Song is, in my mind at least, a bonafide classic tune from the golden age of modern music. Most radio listeners know of Fleetwood Mac as the huge hit machine with Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie. However, there was another Fleetwood Mac, the original one, that included a guitar player by the name of Peter Green. Starting in the mid to late 60s, Fleetwood Mac played rock n roll and blues covers and original tunes. They put out a number of above average guitar based albums with different line-ups over a period of time. The album that this song comes from, Then Play On was their 3rd recording, released in late 69. This was the last Fleetwood Mac album to feature the talents of Peter Green, who kind of wandered off and got lost in the haze that was the 60s. This tune though is his creation and his high water mark. It is a two-part epic, that consists of a rockin riff and some succinct and to the point lyrics in the first half and then a longer, acoustic guitar part for the second half.
