Song of the Day – “Waiting For My Real Life to Begin” by Colin Hay, Men at Work fame. I know I played him earlier this week, however, this is his song and the lyrics are beautiful. Though I believe you should make your real life happen instead of waiting for it, this seems like what we do, waiting for better things to come, Hope and Faith. He wrote this song after the record label dropped him even when he was unaware of the sacking. He was at such stardom and then suddenly nothing happened as captured in a verse of the song “When I awoke today, suddenly nothing happened But in my dreams, I slew the dragon”. He climbed back in popularity thanks in part to the show Scrubs which reintroduced Colin’s music in a couple episodes of the show including this song and “Overkill”. I really love this Man, this artist and his strength as well as his troughs in life. The song seems sad, but it is filled with hope. The story at the beginning of this performance is a good look at his persona, so try not to skip ahead because it does put the song and the man in good perspective.
