Songs That Mean Something To Me #5: #SineadOConnors Troy. Following in the footsteps of artists like Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel and Laurie Anderson, Sinead was someone who was wholly original, fearless and fierce. Talk about getting shivers - this song gives them in spades. She approached songs so differently than most artists. And that voice. The power of this song still blows my mind. People tend to remember Sinead for the wrong songs/reasons. If she had kept on the trajectory that this first album laid out, she would probably be one of my favourite artists of all time. But alas, she was never able to recapture the magic of songs like this (which is a big ask, because this was so great). Dont get me wrong, she has other great albums and tracks, but this is different. I can listen to this song today and still get the same feeling I had the first time I heard it.
