Sonia Fowler gets in the way of her daughter Rebeccas future when she begs the teenager not to leave London for music school. Rebecca initially confides in Charlie Cotton about an audition for a music academy, admitting that she doesnt want her mum to know. Feeling uncomfortable about the situation he has been put in, Charlie persuades Rebecca to tell Sonia, explaining that she will undoubtedly be proud and support her. However, Sonia doesnt react as expected and furiously demands an explanation from Charlie, who has been secretly giving Rebecca guitar lessons. When Sonia reveals that she is worried that Rebecca wouldnt be able to cope with the pressure of an audition and is only being protective, Ronnie takes Rebecca to perform at The Vic to prove her wrong. Following a shaky start and some encouragement from Charlie, Rebecca wows the crowd, much to Sonias surprise. After Rebeccas success at The Vic, Sonia finds out that the music academy is a boarding school in Cardiff and immediately panics. Sonia later explains that they cant afford to send Rebecca, who is quick to inform her that the audition is for a scholarship. A worried Sonia then confesses to her daughter that she is the only thing keeping her and Martin together and asks Rebecca to forget about music school and stay in London. How will Rebecca react?
