Sonia Fowler has been acting strangely lately & things don’t appear to have changed next week when she arrives home from her mystery trip & collapses. It soon becomes clear that Sonia hasn’t been telling the truth about where she’s been & her mum Carol is shocked by how sick she is. Sonia tried to dismiss her illness as a hangover however when she continues to be poorly, Carol is worried something else is going on. Sonia finally tells her mother that she has been feeling the pressure of not meeting her weight target during Fat Blasters so went to a boot camp to lose a few extra pounds & has probably overdone it. She later opens up to Tina, admitting where she has really been & what she has done with the charity money. Tina worries about her friend & there’s a spark of electricity between the girls as Tina tries to cheer her up. Later in the week, Sonia is clearly unwell however busies herself by preparing for the Fat Blasters Christmas party which she has invited Martin to. She makes excuses when Pam enquires after the calendar money assuring her it’ll be in the account by morning. At the weigh-in, Sonia has lost the most weight out of the group & everyone applauds her. The ever increasing guilt becomes too much for Sonia & she suddenly makes a speech to confess everything but as she begins, Sonia suddenly collapses. Paramedics are called & when they ask about the cause, Tina finally speaks up & admits the truth. What has Sonia done to herself?
