Sonny Update: Sonny and his family had a wonderful weekend in Melbourne. They enjoyed the Zoo and then on Sunday rugged up to enjoy there beloved Essendon at Sonnys First AFL game. A massive thank you to Will Hams for kindly donating Sonnys first signed football jumper. Also, Prue McNaughton for surprising the Milliers with this special day. They happened to be sitting in the right place at the right time and were asked to join the team after the game to meet the players. On Monday and Tuesday the Millier family were back to Monash Childrens. Sonny had an air test to trial him off oxygen to see how he would cope. This is a standard procedure for children on oxygen for a long period of time. Unfortunately there was no improvement and Sonny still requires 24/7 Oxygen. Sonny then had his follow-up appointment with Dr Rob to discuss Sonnys health and have his regular check up. Sonnys respiratory team are still not keen for him to get grommets or have his lung biopsy as he is not strong enough for the general anaesthetic, let alone such a big procedure on the lungs. Sonny is being fitted with hearing aids in the coming weeks due to the level of hearing loss caused by the fluid in his ears and chronic ear infections. There has also been a future sleep study booked. Hopefully, this will explain the increase in Central Midline Apnoeas. Heidi and Kane received a phone call from the Monash Childrens Hospital last week, inviting them to be a special part of the new Monash Childrens Hospital project. It is a massive honour and will be an emotional, yet exciting day for them all. You might see some photos and footage from this amazing event on the news and in the papers in the next 24hours. After a big few days, the Milliers are back home to catch up on some rest and stay warm. Thanks again for everyones ongoing support. Kind regards, The SOS team & the Millier family.
